what size propeller
I just bought a Tiger 60 airplane it came with aTower 61 and a12x6 prop. on it. I have two charts for props to engine and this time i have two different answers one says use a 12x6 and the other says use a 13x6 . should i go 12x6 or 13x6 ? I'm not looking for speed but easy take off and nice and easy fling.

RE: what size propeller
There is a range of sizes that will keep the engine in it's working rpm range. It's up to the owner to test different props to find the one that will fly the plane the way the pilot likes. There is no one size.

RE: what size propeller
Hi!
Best prop would be a 12x6 APC or RAM! 13x5 would work too. 13x6 is too big! |
RE: what size propeller
Didn't the prop-chart sticky at the top of the forum help?

ORIGINAL: luker737 I just bought a Tiger 60 airplane it came with a Tower 61 and a 12x6 prop. on it. A 12x6 Propeller (TOPQ5140) may also be used. ============= From there, experiment until you find what you like best. I've used four props on .61 two strokes: 11x7 - worked ok 12 x 6 - works very well, my "first choice" for the engine on a sport plane 13x4W - works well, great thrust, costs a lot more than 12x6 13x5 - engine seemed to be overloaded. Maybe it was too new for the prop, never tried it again |
RE: what size propeller
The last couple of years I have giving away a lot of props out at the field so my collection is way down now. I went to the club auction this year thinking I would stock up on props, we have one fellow that must have 2000 props in his van every year. He didn't show this year. The biggest collection I have ever seen owned by one person is John Buckner. John is also the one that reminded me about buying props at club auctions and swap meets. I'm holding good in the sizes I use for my own engines but having too many props is something that can't be done. Not just sizes but makes/brands too.

ORIGINAL: jaka Hi! Best prop would be a 12x6 APC or RAM! 13x5 would work too. 13x6 is too big! All are right on the upper edge for the Tower .61 engine. I fly my SuperTiger .61's with 13x4 to get more thrust and because of the low pitch the RPMs stay high enough to keep the speed up. IMHO The Tower Engine is a bit stronger than the ST. |
