Next Plane?
My son is just learning to fly the Apprentice but I thought I'd start looking now, so I have plenty of time, for the proverbial next plane. I'd like to stay with electric if at all possible. When he practices on the flight sim he really leans towards acobatic planes like the Yak 54. So, what is a good transition plane that falls between a high wing trainer and a fully acrobatic plane?

RE: Next Plane?
I'd say an ultra stick or ugly stick, any of the stick planes are great seconds planes. very versital, will do stunts and also fly very slow when needed.

Big Stik!!!
- Loads of fun. - Rugged - Easy to land ( lands at a walking rate ) - Handles the wind very well. ( When the winds are over 20mph, I'm the only one out with my Big Stik flying the breeze along with hunting hawks... ) - Will even do some 3D ( I can hover mine, as well as perform elevators, walls, etc. ) - Inexpensive - Trivial to repair... & uses standard replacement hardware... - A great choice at Fun Flys... - Long flight times ( I get 20+ minutes on mine! ) per tank. - Accepts a wide range of engines - No cowl makes tweaking, testing and preflighting easy... |
RE: Next Plane?
Thanks for the suggestions. I also asked some of the guys at the airfield and they also mentioned the Stik series so I'll start looking at them.

RE: Next Plane?
A Stik is one plane that you'll enjoy for a long time.
I recommend the Big Stik 60 from Tower ( though there is nothing wrong with an Ultra-Stik either! ). Throw a 75 engine on it with a big battery pack aft of the wing and fly it all weekend long. |
