I am just getting back into the hobby after a few years off, so i built a new trainer and got all the stuff (again) but have a question I hope someone can help with. I have a new OS65LA engine and if I remember correctly when I did this over 5 years ago, there was a gasket that went between the engine and the muffler... on this OS engine that gasket was not in the box..... Do they still use these? I created a gasket out of an old playing card and have that installed but still wonder if it is needed.

Another quick question regarding this OS engine.... I planned to start it up for the first time tonight for the break in and am having problems getting it started.... went through the whole priming sequence but noticed that after plugging the carbeurator and turning the prop a couple of time to get the fuel into the engine... that it will run back to the tank before I have time to get the glow plug attached and flip it over... am i missing something ? Seems like I do not have enough pressure to keep the fuel in the line and ready to be pushed into the engine... any thoughts?

I the surfaces are flat u don't need a gasket.

f fuel wont stay up---- tank to low? needle open to far ?
air leak at or near carb?

Are you trying to start it without the muffler? Put the muff on, put the pressure line on the muffler, spin the engine with the starter and hold your finger over the opening in the muff for a sec. Have someone hold the plane while you do this.

The Magnum XL Series and the OS FX series are very similar. I have a Magnum .46 XL and that has a gasket between the muffler and exuast port. I believe that you can buy them from Tower Hobbies. As for your strarting trouble try the method of the finger blocking to muffler, another way to help is to try and get the fuel line to bave a slope that heads dwn to the carb.even if its a "bump", there shuld be anuogh syphoning to make startups easier

Don't worry about the fuel. Once the engine is primed, crank it up. It will usually draw fuel to the carb before the prime is burned up.

The OS engines don't use a gasket.

Takes Minnflyers advice, it's always good. But I've found too that putting my finger over the muffler outlet and hand cranking a few times works better than using the carb.

Prime it until you see fuel go into the carb, then go another 2 turns. Now without your thumb over the carb/muffler turn the prop over another 5 times or so. Did this 2-3 times for the first run...

Forget the gasket...
