I bought me one of those escaped61's now i'm undesided on which engine to put on it .I have a tower hobby 61 and a super tigre75 and i was wondering which engine would be best .I had the tower engine on a tiger61 and just loved i have never flown a plane with a large engine and i'm only been fiying about 2years . so any thoughts out there.

I have this plane I fly mine with a OS 91 four stroke. If the supertigre75 is new it will need to be broken in and most likely tuned especially the low end that will most likely need to be leaned out alot I know this because I fly mostly supertigre, once tuned they are a great sport engine.
my plane was tail heavy with the OS I had to put the batt. under the fuel tank and use a heavy hub to get it to balance. Greg

They won't really be much different. You'll find that the Super Tiger will pull verticals better for big loops and hammerheads, but it's not like there will be a drastic difference. If you were comparing a .61 to a .90 or 1.00 then there would be something to discuss.

I have an old ASP .61 two stroke that I brought second hand with a plane, and in fairness, the thing runs like a charm - despite it's apparent age and way it's been treated (it's missing half of one of the heads cooling fins).
I'd have no issues sticking it inside something like the H9 60 Pulse (to which I considered before buying their Blue Nose P51 - which will run a DLE20 re running costs, extra power for a heavy warbird and flight times that I get with the 20cc gasser), as it's really been a great motor

I disagree.

There is quite a significant difference between the ST 75 and the ST 61 in terms of performance.

I have an ST .61 in a 6lb-7lb plane and the plane cannot prop hang even with a wide low pitch prop.

I have an ST 75 on a 9lb+ Big Stik .60 to which I've purposely installed heavy battery packs. This plane will prop hang, torque roll and has unlmited verticals using a 12x7 prop.

I find the ST .61 closer in performance to an OS AX .46 or so, not that it's a bad engine... but there is quite a difference between the two.

I have a new Fox .74 Eagle IV with an APC 12x7 prop on my Escapade 61. It really pulls that plane. Total weight of the plane without fuel is 8# 7 oz. I would go with ST 75.

I honestl have never had good luck with the Tower Hobbies motors. They were just to inconsistant for me. I have seen a few that were missles and real powerhoues but I have alos seen an equal amount that were total turds. I would use the ST if I were you. Or better yet get a 95AX for it!

opjose - We're not comparing a ST .61 to a ST .75. It's a Tower .61 he has. The ST .61 as I understand it is a speed motor meant to really strut its stuff at 14-15k rpm. A motor like that stinks for 3D like you're talking about. The Tower .61 isn't know for being such a screamer, which would lead me to believe that it'll fly a 60 size sport/aerobatics plane just fine.

Hmmm... interesting comparison.

You may be right, the Tower is indeed a "stump puller".

It is certainly stronger than my SuperTigre .61 on the same plane.

It is also a bit stronger than my OS .91 four strokers which is also somewhat less powerful than say an OS 75 or a GMS 76...

I've flown all three on my Skybolt and the latter two were more powerful even adjusting for prop differences.

Well i decided to to go with the tower 61 and i think i made the right choice the power was there to do all i wanted and the plane flew great. One thing i will recommend is us the low rate for your first flight . the plane jumped off the runway so fast it surprised me and climbed up almost out of site.this might be my the plane i fly the most .great planes made a keeper here for me anyway.

Yes, the factory recommended throws are usually a little hot, and the CG is usually a little too far forward. I'm glad you got the engine sorted out and like the plane.

On your high rates program in some exponential to soften the controls when the sticks are near neutral.
