Hi,

Just another quick question i brought a Futba External Charging Jack, so i wont have to take my wings off on the field to charge the battery, but it seems everytime i push the charger in the socket it just pushes the plug out the other side.

Can anyone recommend any suggestions on how this could be fixed, i mean would a drop of CA work to hold it in once its cliped in (from the inside of course)...

You don't have it pushed into the receptical far enough. It will push in and click to lock it.

thx for the reply, but im sure i do ive pushed it in fine and the 2 black clips clip down on the back of it once its in, but it still pushed out !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmm, might be a screwed up clip. I have to work to get them to come back out. If you glue it in, it is going to be a real pain to get out when you want it out.

try putting a small cable tie on the clips to hold them together, if that doesn't work use hot glue, it should have anough force to keep it there and when you don't want the glue there anymore, it will come off easily from the plastic with a little tugging

I feel your pain, I've had the same problem a couple of times. Yes, a small drop of medium or thick CA and then tighten the screw down a little. Just be careful not to get any CA into the inner portions of the plug though.

Yeah - these add-on charging jacks are often a problem - either can't get them to stay put, or can't get them out when you need to.

I'd say just glue the sucker in just now, and don't ever bother taking it out. When it's time to move your gear onto the next plane, just leave that old switch etc behind, and replace it buy one of the great combination switch & charge jacks such as the JR one (which works just fine with your Futaba gear BTW)

I've never had a problem with the Ernst charge jack. Click lock is solid and have never had one push out after installation. Removal is somewhat of a fiddle, but can certainly be done.

I might have got 2 bad Ernst jacks... but I could not plug into it without reducing the width, etc. of the male plug going into it.
I also have a plane with a GP change jack. It did the same thing...... pushed out the back.
I now buy nothing but MPI chanrge jacks. They are about $15 at my LHS and worth every dollar!!!
They have a new one now that has LED's that is a built in volt watch. It is a hefty $25.

One thing I found out is to make sure the tab on the Futaba plug matches up with the slot inside the jack mount. I had mine in upside down and it was always falling out just like DragonHeart mentions. Flipped it over and no more problems.

Unfortunaly that wasn't the problem with mine. I was aware of the Futaba tab etc. The charge jacks were just molded to poor tolerances. (in fact... most of my tabs are cut off my plugs as I use a lot of Hitec stuff).
I use White Out to put a "dot" on both male and female plugs. That way I just line up the dots.
PS..... I have all kinds of extra leads and none of them fit correctly into the Ernst jacks.

Central Hobbies carries a charging jack that is like a fuel dot. Your jack fits into it, you remove the "plug" from the outside and the jack is attached. You remove it and charge.
