second plane after trainer

hey i know this is a stupid question but i want to know what i should get after a trainer. i can handle an electric funflyer so maybe a glow funflyer?sig fazer? or should i stick with a basic aerobatic plane like a graupner super air or a GP easy sport40 until i get the hang of faster speeds? thanks

The GP easy sport sounds good.

Glow planes fly a little different. I agree with impulse. Get a lower-performance airplane until you get the feel for it.

My vote Four Star

Hi the Sig Four Star 40/60 might fill the bill nicely!

the Sig 4* series make great second planes. I currently fly a Sig 4*60 as my second plane and it is great. It lands almost like a trainer and it will do anything that I can do at this point. It is also very stable in flight and easy to fly. Give one a try you won't be sorry you did.

I agree with the 4* suggestion. It's a great second plane.

Sig 4 * is Great, but if you want somthing that looks really nice and flys almost trainer like try the SF Eindecker ARF tail dragger... I put a 61 Four Stroke in mine. It looks like a WW1 plane... Sounds great. I just baught it and have flown it like 40 times... It's just a Blast and people love to watch it fly...

hte easy sport is a good plane. it retains the behavior qualities of a trainer while it also allows you to do things the trainer could not. When you put it together though, you may want to try taking the dihedral out of it. it has a little in it. if you have a bandsaw, just set the angle to zero. the wing is just slightly above the thrust line so it is affected by the pendulum effect anyway.

I've built both the GP Easy Sport and the Sig 4*40. I prefer the 4*40 by far. It's lighter, handles nicer (don't overdo the recommended throws) and will give you a lot of excitement after a trainer.

The Easy Sport, to my mind, was much heavier even though it was built to specs. It needed a lot of speed and tip stalled at low speeds due to its weight.

There are also 4*60's at my field and the guys that have those also have a lot of fun.

My vote goes to either of the 4*'s.

mine never tip stalled. as a matter of fact, it had no nasty habbits. it was as docile as a trainer when you had the throws down, when you crankeed them up, i could do all kinds of stuff.

if you want to start out with a trainer i would get an avistar. with its symi-smetrical wing it will last you longer then any other trainer. It is also one of the cheapest gas trainers out there. make sure to get a bb engine it you want it to last and if you have the money get at least a .46

Try a World Rambler or a World T-34 Mentor for a first low winger with any 40/46 engine.
