RE: First Gasser ?

Kyosho Calmato .60 would be very easy to handle and has enough wing loading to carry the DLE. Also any .60-90 size stick would
be a good platform. I am currently rebuilding and covering an Ultra stick 120 (not the lite version) for a JC28 EVO.
Just remember that You should use metal gear servos, and an igntion kill switch.

The [link=http://www.hangar-9.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=HAN5170]H9 Pulse 125[/link] is an amazing little plane with a DLE 20. It is one hell of a fun flyer.

Phoenix do you have the Pulse 125? i am asking because I really like the looks of the plane, but given the weight and size
a 28-30cc would probably rip it around great.

My brother owns one with the DLE 20 on it. the biggest plane I own is big stik.60 I am out of room lol.

We usually run a 17x6 on it and let me tell you the thing tears up the skies. I have flown it a lot and it is one of my favorites. It reminds me of a bigger tiger. 60 in how it flies, with a bit more snap.

I could not imagine a 30cc but yeah it would absolutely be insane.

I would have reccomended the tiger 60 for the DLE 20, but the ARF's have been out of Stock at tower forever you can only get kits.
My tiger 2, and 60 are my favorites. thats why I reccomended the Calmato, it's basically a tiger 60 clone and flys just as easy.

I'll be putting one in a TF P-51 GE.  Should be able to move that bird like crazy.

Re the Pluse125, the feedback on the specific forum with the DLE20 in it is VERY positive (thought about that combo for a while myself)

Personally, I have a H9 .60 sized (65") P51 that I'm going to stick my DLE20 into (with a Jtec 1.25" wrap-around pits muffler), it's a perfect high powered match being that aircraft is designed to take a 20cc gasser anyhow (ie FG20 from Saito)

Look for the thread on the Seagull Yak 54 90 size in the ARF section

I noticed a couple of my favorite planes mentioned but the plane is a choice thing. The engine is a 1.20 but it will work in a number of the 60 size planes and any 1.20 size. It does use a longer prop then a lot of 1.20 glows so clearence is something to think about. The DLE 20 is a very nice engine and I'm seeing more and more of them at the field these days.

Dragon Lady 60-90 if you can find one.....I have a Zenoah G20 in mine and it is an absolute blast!!! It has become my fav. plane for many reasons despite me having much larger ones 50cc+ in the hangar.

I'm in the process of building a Pulse 125, and I'll be putting a DLE 20 in that. Users here on RCU who have already done so include:

i have Sig Rascal 40 that has never been flown with a new Saito 82. thought about getting the Saito FG14 gasser for it. but the feedback im getting on those dont sound to positive.

Gas in the .40 Rascal would really deter from the rascals beautiful flight envelope with the added wing loading. Perhaps you could find a Rascal 110 and then the DLE-20 would be ideal. I have a DLE-20 in a Sig P-51b and it is great but you said you want a "Fun Fly" type plane. This lends it's self to the larger sticks or profile planes. If I had another DLE-20, I would be looking at the Hanger 9 .90 sized Christian Eagle that is coming out soon. But again that is not a "Fun Fly" plane.

I have to agree with 67. When Sig came out with the big rascal most the guys I know were using the then new RCS 1.40 gasser, a very high performance 22 cc engine.
To date I haven't seen one of the Saito gassers in use. For the price of there four strokes you can get a couple DLEs. I'm sure the saito would be a nice engine in a scale plane though. As an every day sport pilots engine it's just a bit out of the price range. I would still like to see one in operation, I really do like four strokes.;)

I'm putting a DLE20 in a TF 60 sized P47 and also the GP PT17 Stearman.

I thought about the 60 sized TF P47 Razorback kit and the DLE20 myself before I got my mustang, as it looks to fit PERFECTLY within the cowl, as in nothing sticking out - and it is my all time favorite WW2 warbird.
There is a good thread here where others have done that combo also, and just in case you haven't been there, here is the link: [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10332537/tm.htm[/link]

I'm considering putting the DLE20 into a Bridi 60 size kit just to get the hang of flying gas vs electric before I install it in the P-51C.  OTOH if I really enjoy driving the Bridi, I may just get another DLE for the 51.

I have a DLE 20 in a Sea Gull SpaceWalker 120 and think its a great combination..Lots of power. Fits easily..Very economical to run and no cleanup to speak of... They are a great little motor and the SpaceWalker is a nice relaxing flying plane...I am really having fun with mine...This is my first small gasser and I am really impressed with it... Sometimes it's hard getting anything bigger then a 60 in one of the Bridi designs. I couldn't get a .91 four stroke in the Dirty Birdy without bashing the fire wall/nose section so I went with a .91 two stroke and had to hog out the cowl to get it to fit. The motor mount had to be left in the plane but I could remove the engine. To get a YS 1.10 in a Kaos I had to build the cowl around the engine. The Kaos had a bigger fire wall then the Birdy and the cowl was one I could remove. There is a 80 inch 120 size Kaos, I used an RCS 1.40 in mine, plenty of room for an engine in that one. I have flown every size Kaos I know about and they all fly the same. The smaller ones just have a faster roll rate and the bigger the plane the more stable.

Mods on the Birdy and Kaos to get an engine to fit with a cowl. Last time I had the 120 size Kaos I didn't bother with one. I used that plane for engine testing so a cowl just got in the way.;)
