What prop with this combo?
 

Hi all,

I just about got my new 40 size Ultra Stick finished and would like to maiden it this weekend. I have a O.S. .46FX on it. What prop would you guys recommend?

I have the following:

10x6
10x7
11x6 (Currently on the plane)
11x7
12x7

all but the 10x6 are recommended by the engine manual but being a newb im not sure quite what im looking for...

any suggestions?

I'm thinking the 11 X 6 prop is just where you need to be. APCs are my favorite.

The 11 X 6 is definitely a good compromise. If you want a bit more speed, drop to the 10 X 7. If you decide you want more vertical for aerobatics (but less speed) try a 12 X 4, or 5.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!

I know of two kits out of the hundreds at our club that were built as boxed - and both of them were for a magazine review on the kit. Experimenting is what this hobby is all about. Mostly because we get our best ideas at night after the hobby stores are closed, or at the field when we discovered we broke or forgot something.

About everything in this hobby is the way it is because somebody started fooling around with something in his basement. You should have seen some of the clockwork mechanical timers and de-thermalizers we used to make for free-flight models. Will changing a port on a carbureator increase RPM? If it is designed as a tricycle gear what will I need to change to make it a tail dragger? Can a hamster brain and a crystal be used to to make a receiver - oops, that one's not ready yet.
