CG Calculator
 

Almost as common as the question: What Size Prop? Is the question: where is the CG? Here is an address for a CG calculator that every RC pilot should have in his favorite file. Mater's not weather you are a builder or will never know anything more then the ARF, this question will boggle your mind at some point in time, trust me on that, I have been given some real odd ball planes in my time and had to locate a CG for them. This calculator works so well I have used it on two meter pattern planes that didn't even have a name but after using this to locate the CG I never moved the balance point again, it works that well.;)

Istart at 25%of wing cord and then fly it. Take an upline at a 45° angle, roll inverted, stabilize the upline and then let go of the sticks. If it noses up it's tail heavy. If it noses down it's nose heavy. Adjust and fly again. If your tank isn't near the C.G. test at less than 1/2 full.

Anything else is an approximation.

Works with slab or tapered wings, and I only have one swept wing model and that I use the recommended C.G.

This is why I posted the the CG Calculator. It puts you dead on without Voodoo or guess work and you no longer have to listen to the peanut gallery with every odd ball plane you will ever get when you ask someone about CG. This works with tapered wings as well as constant cords and swept wing. Just put in the numbers, punch a button and Shazam, there is the correct CG. Or you can do it like Charlie, I'm sure the 25% trick works great. I know people that have been doing that for 54 years without ever having a problem.:D
