General Hobby or Hobby4less, experiences?

I've had problems with Hobby4less and they appear to now be the same as General Hobbies...

Is it just me or are these two doing some dodgy stuff...?

Dodgy meaning questionable? The two web sites look the same, their "about us" page is almost identical. Does that make them bad?

Well I bought a plane from hobby4less, but haven't received anything. There is no answer from the different e-mails that I've tried, or their contact forms. So just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems...

Phone numbers are the same so they are one company with two names. If you don't trust one don't trust the other.

When I'm searching for parts and run across a web site and they don't show a physical address I will steer away from them. That's not in every case. If I have heard good things about them, I will give them a chance.

I also get very suspicious when a company uses different names to operate. I just don't have the time or money to get hung up triing to get my money back, or DOA products taken care of.

I won a pair of receiver batteries on e-bay. I had never dealt with the company before but they had a good feed back score. After I won, I got an e-mail say they were out of stock. They gave me the option of cancelling the order or wait and they would ship as soon as they came in. I got very upset and sent a e-mail questioning why they would offer to sell when they were out of stock and cancelled my order. After thinking about it, I returned an e-mail informing them to just hold my money ship as soon as they could. The confirmed my e-mail. In less than a week I got another e-mail from them telling me that my batteries had been shipped with a tracking number. In about three days I had my batteries, nicely packaged and a nice note. I was happy. That company, All Battery, turns out to be a nice company to deal with.

Once I find a company with the right prices, good product, and excellent service, I will stay with them.

Sorry you are having problems, it's a real bummer I know.

Frank

Yes, it does look weird when there is no physical address, and the same phone number shows up under two different names.
I was hoping others here might have had better luck with them, if not then take this as a warning and steer away from them....

Yup I agree.

If they can't maintain a physical presence and provide an address, they likely fear people showing up and/or calls.

That bodes badly for the consumer.

I've been looking at arfs they carry for a while now and finally ordered one last October. Because of some medical emergencies & problems in the family I didn't get around to starting on it til this last week. I went to put the elevator halves on the Skyline 70 60" Sbach 342 and found out they DON'T MATCH! It looks like they took a left side half, flipped it over, then covered it like it belonged to the right side (or vise-versa). I got caught up cutting slots for a joiner wire because no method was supplied to join the halves and when I got to final assembly, OUCH, the right elevator was LOWER than the left. I should have checked it before I actually began the joining. when you look at the ELE halves from the inside edge, the leading edge on top is longer than the edge to the bottom on the left ELE, the opposite on the right ELE. WEIRD. I sent them an e-mail just a few minutes ago, so we'll see what happens. The rest of the arf looks just like the ARFMFGR version I owned before. Not a positive experience so far.
