RX and battery mounting ? and push rods.

OK guys ...I`m almost there. Nose thingy is mounted:D.
Do I have to put the RX and Batt in a plastic container, .Old fuel tank or can I just wrap and rubber band in foam rubber?
Insulator by trade so I have pleantey of Amor Flex.
The stock rods that came with this bird are wood dowels. with push rod wire and Z bends for the servo horn mounting. I dont want to tear it apart as far more than I have already done.
Seems to work fine.
Any thoughts ?
Thanks.

Wrap the RX and battery separately in foam and mount with velcro inside the fuselage. There's no need for any more protection unless you are building a float plane in which case you'll want to waterproof them.

Wooden dowel pushrods have been used for a really long time, and Z-bends can't be beat. They can flex under heavy flight loads though so what plane are we talking about?

Like Jester posted.

A basic (and perhaps unneeded) caution - don't fix the Rx or battery location until you set the CG as the battery is the biggest chunk that can be moved to adjust the CG without adding unnecessary weight.

I've successfully used adhesive backed velcro but first I "painted" the location with alcohol diluted epoxy to give a nice smooth clean surface for the adhesive backing.

One-wrap Velcro and 1/4" rc foam are my usual route. The LHS may also have a rx protector, basically padding and velcro in one.

Be sure both are very solidly mounted, and no wires can chaffe on a former or other square edge over time.

Thank You guy`s, this is for a stick and balsa, mono coat Hobbico .40 trainer . Had it for 20 years and never flew it, just drove it around the parking lot with out the wings. Joined a club, got my AMA and wanna master this before I die. Or at least have some fun.:D
