Elevons backwards
Hello RCU
I am setting up a plane using elevon(elevator and ailerons). I am using a JR X-378 FM Air MD2,4-537.I flowed the set up and they work backwards Left and right works on the up and down of the right stick.I have changed servo leads, tried a different receiver even tried a gws receiver.all worked the same.even reversed the servo travel. so I am missing some thing in the manual.I am sure it is right in front of me I just am having trouble comprehending the instructions. How do I reverse this? thank you for your help. |
RE: Elevons backwards
What channels are you using.

Hi john_s3
I am not familiar with your radio, but your last description hints a lack of understanding. I have used elevons on my plane, a flying wing. My radio is a Futaba 2.4MHZ. It is an early computer radio. To use elevons I have to use the manual, which describes exactly what to do. If your radio does not have this feature, you can purchase an elevon/mixer, or something named similarly. I used one before I had a computer radio. It worked very well. |
RE: Elevons backwards
There will be a combination of channel reversing, interchange of channels, etc. that will work. since different brands of servos work in different directions with the same input (and the control horns can be either on top or bottom of the surface) no one can give you exact instructions. However, experiment a bit by trying to reverse one or more channels, interchange connectors, reverse one or both channels and eventually you will find the combination that works on your plane with that brand of servo.

RE: Elevons backwards
John,<div> Did you change the wing type to "Delta" wing?? You need to do that in order for the elevons to work properly.</div><div>
</div><div>I know it's a basic question, but I'm asking just to make sure.</div><div> </div><div>Ken</div> |
RE: Elevons backwards
Thank you every one.
First yes I do have it on delta wing.I had not though about the servo brand good point.the strange thing about the problem is they work great just on the wrong position on the joystick. I will go down in the shop and play some more. There is an 800 number for Jr TECH.Do they charge I wonder. I have been answering question for years on this site and as always a great group of folks. |
RE: Elevons backwards
Have you tried reversing each servo in the radio?? Try reversing your aileron and elevator controls in the radio and see if changes anything in the plane.<div>

I have flown several planes with elevons with my JR radios. I have used numerous different JR radios and never had a problem after the servos were plugged in correctly.
First thing to check is are the servos matched. I have found that servos from different manufacturers or one that is reversed messes things up. As I recall, your servo positions are correct, aileron-right, elevator left. I would check your manual to be sure. Hold up elevator and set the reverse selection on the elevator channel to get the left elevon to go up. Look and see if the right elevon is also up. If not, reverse the aileron channel. Check the ailerons. They should be working correctly. The thing to remember is that the left side is only changed by the elevator functions (reversing, sub trim, end point). The right side is controlled by the aileron functions. |
RE: Elevons backwards
I just though of some thing to check.I have both servo arms coming off the same side of the servo.Does one come off the left and the other right?? I will give that a try.
I have reread the manual 3 timed( The elevon and related sections).I will get this.it is not supposed to be this hard...LOL |
