What's the Difference in these Airtronics Tx?

Both look like they have the same model # as far as the RDS8000... What's the difference?

RE: What's the Difference in these Airtronics Tx?

You want the Regular RDS8000, not the Crawler version. With the crawler version the gimbals auto center. You can technically use it for flying but it is much easier with the regular version. This is a great easy to use radio. All of the Airtronics radios are great, really. Me and my dad use an SD-10G and my brother and grandfather use the RDS8000.<div></div><div>http://www.hobbypeople.net/index.php...1-rx-only.html
<div></div><div>let me know if you have any other questions about Airtroncis Radios.</div></div>

RE: What's the Difference in these Airtronics Tx?

GoBeach is correct. You don't want the Crawler version of the RDS8000.<div>
</div><div>He is also correct in  that it's a fantastic radio. I have 2 of htem and still use them. I also have the SD-10G that is my everyday go to radio. I've got 10 planes currently in it. The reason I use the RDS8000 is that I have several planes that I need to be able to fly with at the same time as the SD-10G. Ok, now while everybody is scratching their heads about what that means, let me explain. I have a Senior Telemaster that I use to haul gliders up to altitude and release. Normally I'm the flying the Telemaster, but I also have several sailplanes of my own. For those I use the RDS8000 so that I can have somebody else fly the Telemaster to haul me up with. So I need to different radios!!!</div><div>
</div><div>I've been flying Airtronics since I started flying 17 years ago. You won't go wrong with them. They are rock solid radios and will take care of your needs.</div><div>
</div><div>Hope this helps</div><div>

I take it the "Gimbals" would be called the joysticks if this were a video game controller..? ( Yeah I play XBOX LIVE...haha.... )

GoBeach75 08-24-2012 04:51 PM

RE: What's the Difference in these Airtronics Tx?

Yes, the Gimbals are the joysticks. That Crawler radio is for driving RC Crawler Trucks. You want the one that is for flying at the link I posted.

Yeah, but my second link in my OP is $10 cheaper and the same thinghttp://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...ey/msn/lol.gif

If hold up and wait for Hobby People to put them on sale, which they do a lot, they will be for only 199.99. Sometimes even 179.99

Yes, but $10 cheaper doesn't mean anything if it's not the right radio for flying RC planes. And they aren't the same thing. I can understand that you want to save $10, but you need to get the correct equipment for flying planes.

Believe me, it's worth $10 to get the correct transmitter.. Using a Crawler radio will cost you a lot more than $10 in the long run, if you try to use it as an Aircraft radio, then crash due to the sticks self centering!!

you can alwas wait a few weeks, they will go on sale for about $199 or sometimes less.. subscribe to the hobby people news letter, they are always sending out emails for sales they are having, I probably get about 2 or more emails a week from them!

Finally Someone who looked at the links..... THANK YOU !

RE: What's the Difference in these Airtronics Tx?

OK, I guess I am missing something here, because the two links in the Original post, one shows a Crawler System listed at $219, and the Aircraft system is at $239.. I was comparing the two posts side by side.. Now If I missed another link that you posted, I am sorry.. if you have indeed found the Aircraft system at $199, then by all means, get it!

Also, I don't appreciate how you responded to my post, you are asking for help, we are tring to provide the help, and you respond by saying "Once again, read the post about the GD $10 and look at the link to the transmitter I was talking about... Geez !!!"
GD $10?!?

OK, I am sorry, I won't bother to try and help again, as I seem to be of no help to you!

Craig.

Now now.. let's not get testy, SeaJay. This is a biginners forum and some just don't make the connection you might be trying to make.

Tower Hobbies lists the "Crawler" version as discontinued and has the standard "air" version at $219.

Sometimes, they go on sale with two receivers. That's not the case here, however. This is the transmitter only.

Please read the Wholethread and see that I quoted GoBeach75... Please see that he posted the same Tx as the second link of my Original Post, the Tx that is meant for aircrafts... Please see that his link cost $10 more than the link to the 2nd Tx my Original Post which is for aircrafts......

Maybe there should be a Forum for " Following and Understanding a Thread Properly" ..?

Comments like these are not helping you. Maybe you should be a member for at least an entire month before saying this to a moderator who is only trying to help and who has been here for a number of years.

You could have Read and Understood the descriptions of Your own links on that website to answer your own question without even starting this thread.
I'm just sayin'.
Also there is a Forum specifically for radio questions.

I gave you a link to the radio questions forum.
One who does not choose to help themselves are often not able to be helped.
And that is not what trolling means.
And now I say good bye to you.
Before I go though I wish you all the best, seriously. Airtronics systems are very good radios.
