Needle Extension OS-46FX
G'day guy's
I've just got myself a seagull PC-9. It has an inverted motor under the cowl. How do you make an extension to the main needle valve so it will extend beyond the cowl? The engine is an OS 46FX. Also, do I need an onboard glow driver for the inverted engine to idle? |
RE: Needle Extension OS-46FX
Chicane, there should be a small hole in the end of your needle and a set screw on the the side. This is for an extension. Insert a piece of music wire into the hole and lock it into place with the set screw. Bend or loop the the end so you can adjust the needle by hand.

RE: Needle Extension OS-46FX
Also, do I need an onboard glow driver for the inverted engine to idle? Generally that's more of a four stroke problem and issue. The only differential issue with running a two stroke sport engine such as the OS 46FX inverted is an increased ease of flooding the plug on refueling or priming and subsequently incurring difficulty starting or worst case, hydraulic locking. |

Eexcell-ent !!
Thanks guy's. I was wondering about that grub screw. |
RE: Needle Extension OS-46FX
In addition to using music wire, you can make an extension from those little hex wrenches that come with wheel collar sets. Cut to length and be sure to put some thread-locker on the grub screw.

RE: Needle Extension OS-46FX
I run an inverted 46FX on my ultra Sport 40+. After al the bad thengs I heard abot inverted 2-strokes, I was pleasantly suprised with the performance of mine. No trouble at all!
