Old servos?
Hi,
we have this hobby shop in our area which is likely going out of business. He has a number of old Hitec 5625MGs and a 645MG servo unused and sealed in their original boxes. Based on their QC stamp, they are from 2006-07. The offerring price is about the same as the base price ordering from Tower etc but the Tower price will increase due to shipping, customs etc which is not the case with my LHS. I already have a few 5625MGs, so if I buy these, they will sit on my shelf for atleast a couple of years. Was wondering, do servos kept this way degrade in any way? Should I pick them up? Ameyam |
RE: Old servos?
Servos do not degrade as long as they are stored properly

RE: Old servos?
What Jetmech said. The servos should be just fine for you to use.<div>

RE: Old servos?
They wear out quicker in use and I'm using some that are very old without any problem. Nothing at all happens to them while in storage. Jump on the deal. When not in use mine are kept in an old shoe box.

Heck if you are worried, stick them all in a plastic bag with a bit of rice to keep the humidity down and the motors will not rust.

RE: Old servos?
I hope they don't go bad with age... heck, all of my servos are several years old.

RE: Old servos?
If the hobby shop is going downhill....you might want to gamble and see if he will lower his price before he shuts the doors.....

RE: Old servos?
The servos will be rotten and no good at all, where did you say they were? Just kidding...They will be fine..If they are cheaper than normal grab as many as you can afford...
