RE: Plans For a field Box

There are plans on my web page. One is a very simple field box, basically to just carry fuel and a few tools. The other is called the Basic Necessities Field Box. It has all the space you need for the necessary equipment. I came up with this design for the simple reason that I don't like to carry a heavy field box with a lot of stuff that I only use on rare occasions. The beauty of this design is that the fuel can is below the handle so the box is always balanced, regardless of the fuel level in the can.

here are the plans for a more heavy duty carry all. the main notes are that you will need to use your judgement and remember all measurements are inside ones due to the fact people use different size wood. I think I used 1/4 and it was still really sturdy (and heavy after loaded up, but I think that is normal). I.E. that you will need to add in the zie of wood used if there is a wall on the inside.

I have also uploaded them here if you want them.

No I don't. I can certainly take a few, but I am moving this weekend and most of my stuff is already packed away. As soon as I get it all unpacked I will get you those pics. I altered mine from the plans and instead of making the draws upfront, I just made a hinged front (used planes hinges, they worked great).

My box is simply 2 compartments. 1 compartment is covered (housing the battery) with a power panel cut into the top. The other is just big enough for my starter and small fuel bulb. I made the thing out of 3/4 inch ply because that was what was layin around and because I wreck so many planes I thought my field box should be indestructable.

I have a regular tool box for my feild box. My buddy built a 'starter caddie' and that's like gold! battery, panel, and fuel. All in a nice neat small package.. You can see it in the background of a few pics on our site.. Quick & light to lug to the plane, flight line, etc.. No need to LUG this heavy full feld box about, or bring your plane to it.. Easy to build, 1/4" ply all around
