Cermark LCD Power Panel Problem..
 

I recently purchased a Cermark LCD Power Panel from Chief Aircraft, after falling in love with it from the catalog. When I installed it and tested the Glow Driver, when I turn it on, the lowest setting indicates .7 Amps, and the glow plug is red hot. I don't believe this is correct. Shouldn't it start at zero Amps and increase to like 5 Amps??? I am afraid to use this on my plane fearing it could do damage to the plug or Engine... Is there something wrong with my panel?

Many years ago I also used a panel glow plug wire. It seemed to work too hot even on the lowest setting and I would constantly burn out glow plugs. To make a long story short, I now only use a glow starter like Hobbico's Hot-Shot and never have any problems. In fact, the panel's plug wire would sometimes get in the way of the prop. This was a real pain! The glow starter is really worth the small investment of about $15.

Yes it should be controllable lower than .7 amps. I'd return the unit with an explanation. My power panel is a differnet brand and it'll adjust down to 0 amps and up to at least 4.0. I havent taken it higher than that, so I'm not sure if it'll peg out.
The hot-shots are great, (I use them sometimes) but some folks like the capability to see the current going to the plug and be able to adjust it.

This is the email I received back from them, I still don't understand if it is functioning right..

Hi Eric,

The LCD showed your plug load is 0.7A in 1.2 volt range. If you turn to the higher position (clockwise), the voltage will be rise and the load could be up to 0.9A or higher. It depend on what kind plug you take - Hot or cold type & brand. Don't worry, it is in normal running
