H9 Alpha Engine Tilt question
Today i finally got to fly my Alpha trainer and when i took off i noticed it wanted to pull to the left so i adjusted the trims on my tx and when i landed i went to make an adjustment on the ailerons and i noticed the engine is cocked to the left a bit. I didnt build this plane as it came rtf so it wasnt something i did when installing the engine as i didnt install it. I believe it is normal for an engine to be a few degrees to the right because of torq issues but not the left, correct me if im wrong. I just wanted a second opinion before i adjust servos or ailerons. If some one with an alpha trainer could help me by looking at their engine i would greatly appreciate it.

CHECK YOUR FIREWALL!!
On mine, I noticed the same thing... Firewall was coming loose from fuselage.. Very little glue.. One more flight, she'd been a gonner!! Repaired w/ epoxy, tri stock, & f/g cloth.... Beefed up all the glue joints I could reach, and some I couldn't!!.. Allen |
RE: H9 Alpha Engine Tilt question
I'm not sure how the Alpha is set up, but many planes have the engine offset to counteract torque, however, the engine should point a few degrees to the RIGHT (from a view sitting in the cockpit)

RE: H9 Alpha Engine Tilt question
I agree, I cocked my a little to the right to straighten it out.

RE: H9 Alpha Engine Tilt question
mine was to the left also an the stablizers weren't square either an mine pulled to the right I straightened all this out an it flies straight with little trim.

RE: H9 Alpha Engine Tilt question
Hi foxtrot82... this what we did to mine...pulled every thing out so we could pour epoxy down to the firewall on the inside of fuse...put paper towel in hole so you dont make a mess, make sure to put the motor mount bolt in just enough so the epoxy doesnt clog the threads...or you can have them all the way in and use epoxy as thread lock.. those darn mount bolts came out on our 2nd flight , lost two and the other 2 where in only 1 thread...have fun with the alpha, it does fly inverted.....spooner
