Nitro Capitol Trainer or Avistar 40 help

I am wondering if any one can tell me of any expereince's that they have had with the Nitro Capitol Trainer as I am think of this as a starting plane. Will be purchasing a used Futaba 6xas transmitter with a new flight pack & an OS 46FX engine

I'm not too sure, but I think the FX is overpowering it. I was also looking at the capitol Flyer but when I saw some posts abou it, it usually said something about overspeeding or something.

I think you can also do some aerobatics with teh avistar. Ive also had a couple of problems with megatech when I purchased one of their rc elec. cars(motor didn't work, shipping dammaged)

Would get either plane through LHS as shipping to Canada from the US is a pain

You might want to rethink and get a sig kadet LT-40.
If you want a arf the LT-40 Builds easy and quick.
The LT-40 stick kit is also nice if you are a diehard builder.

RTW,
I have an AVISTAR with a .46 FX that's fun to fly. However, is not what I consider a beginner plane - unless you have a capable instructor to assist you. Be sure to get the MonoKote version if you decide to go this route.

I learned on the avistar with no instructor. It's a great plane and even after you get the hang of flying and trainers become boring, the avistar is still a lot of fun, especially with a .46fx on it. Enjoy!

I learned on an Avistar and it was great. It will fly like a champ with the .46 and you will be able to learn more than you would with a regular old trainer. The semi-symetrical wing makes a big difference. Let us know what you end up getting and how your first flight goes :)

The Avistar is very popular trainer at our field, and much more acro-capable than flat-bottom winged trainers, especially with a .46. However, most true beginers will need weeks and weeks of air work before the semi-symetrical wing becomes an advantage. The Sig trainers like the Senortia, Kadet Senior, and LT-40 lack the semi-symetrical foil, but fly so slow and stable that low time pilots seem to gain confidence quicker. They are also very well engineered. I haven't flown either one. Just my observations. My Frontier 40 trainer with a .52 four stroke did the job for me.

If you've narrowed it down the Capitol trainer or Avistar, I personally would go with the Avistar before I bought ANYTHING from Megatech...
