glow fuel - what can I expect to pay?
 

I haven't flown in years and was about to buy four gallons of glow fuel from Tower Hobbies. Then I saw the $27 haz mat charge. That puts it well up into the ridiculous price range. What can I expect to pay if I buy it at a local hobby shop? Where do you get your fuel and what do you pay?

I pay between 15 and 20 per gallon of 15%. A driving force on why gas burners are getting so popular.

Tower is not the place to buy glow fuel if you want to buy it in gallons. If you simply must purchase from Tower then the quart sizes is the economical way to go because of no hazmat however in most cases you will get you best fuel prices at the Local Hobby Shop.

Connect with you local club and find out where the best place to go or in some cases some groups mix their own.

In most hobby shops 15% costs from $15.00 to $25.00 a gallon. I wait until it is on sale at my local Hobby People store, usually about $15.00 but this last sale I went to it was $13.00 a gallon. I picked up my summer supply but haven't been flying much so I still have it all on hand.

I have been paying around 16 dollars per gallon. Even after burning 13 gallons last year, I am still not concerned about the price.:D Cheap entertainment in my book!

Wow I need to move. My last gallon of 10% was $21.00. Well worth it though;)

I went gas a few years ago but I think it's 17 a gallon still at my LHS

Check with your local clubs. One of your clubs may do a group purchase. We pay $13/gal for 10%. Someone from our club drives to the S&W factory and picks it up. Fuel from our LHS is expensive. The shop has to pay the hazardous shipment charge, find a safe and acceptable place to store it (they aren't allowed to keep a large supply at the shop) and then make their profit. I like to support my LHS, but for fuel it just doesn't work out.

$11.00 per gallon for 10-15% at the Toledo show.

Usually I stock up by purchasing 4 or more cases there.
