is this a good plane to knock rust off?
 

i was wondering if this is a good solution for me to knock the rust off persay when it comes to rc flying again?
i do like real quality glow airplanes...i have a club to help...what do you think?

Excellent trainer and One of my favorite series of engines from OS the AX and the series 11 in the .46 but I got a problem with this and that is the weak point so often with these super duper combo deals and that is the radio system, it is at the very bottom of the list in anything desirable.

No memory so remember its a one airplane one transmitter radio. In fact it seems devoid of any features except for servo reversing and worst of all it is 72 MHz and that you will most certainly will not be happy with for long.

Agreed. You really don't want to spend your money on a basic radio just to have to upgrade when you buy your second plane. Given your experience, I wouldn't suggest a trainer at all. As I said in your other thread, an Ugly Stick is perfect for what you are needing it to do for you. And there should be no worries at all since you have help. Many pilots have done their primary training on a Stick; they are that good. I've linked to one for you here that has been around for a long time. That plane with 4 ball bearing sport servos, and Thunder Tiger .46 pro or OS .46 AX, and whichever radio you choose will get you a very forgiving yet capable airplane that will get you your confidence and skills back quickly.

That's the plane I learned on. I've also trainer dozens of people using that trainer. I think that the Tower Trainer is one of the best bargains in trainers out there. And you can get it ready to fly in just about no time at all. I had one student that we just had a devil of a time getting together to put his plane together and then come out for lessons. So finally told him to charge the transmitter and receiver batteries and then to meet me at the field the next morning. We put his plane together in the back of his truck at the field and had him ready to fly in about 20 minutes!!!!

Just change the prop a 10 x 8 has too much pitch, a 12 x 4 will make it slow down more on landing.

The climb out will be better too.

I got back into RC with my first glow plane being the Escapade. It is a great flyer and you can do more with it after the need for a trainer goes away. I put an OS46 AX on it and that is a perfect size for it. The plane has just enough dihedral to give it a trainer feel, but not so much that doing mild aerobatics is out of the question.
