Cleaning CA off Monokote
 

Can I clean CA off on monokote and if so how do I do it?

I switch from an empty bottle of CA to a full one and...well...I had a little accident.

Before I re-cover I wanted to ask you guys for an opinion.

Not sure how much you got on it, but I use a cotton swab and acetone. If the spot is small, I use a q-tip. Do not put a lot of pressure on it, and keep the acetone from drying out. It will eventually soften and if you can get under the edge, sometimes you can carefully pull on the edge and it will pop off. You just have to be patient. I have also used CA debonder as it does the same.

Yep acetone is the best bet you can get it at Wally World or steal your wife's finger nail polish remover

I think acetone is one of the very few spirits commonly avalible that will do the job but it is nasty stuff both the vapors and its ability to go through the skin like its not even there so do be very careful with it and avoid any contact if you are at all sensitive using resistant gloves.

Hooking edges ad lifting working the spirit in does work well on large globs but you will find just thin tracks what does require pressure all the while keeping the surface wetted out with the actone and some vigorus rubbing .

Do try to avoid seams with the acetone as this can lift these areas.

Any hobby shop has "De-Bonder" in the same rack as the CA. It works to remove CA from your fingers as well as allowing you to separate joints and remove CA from covering.

yup, and if you look at the ingredients for the bottle of debonder, you'll find it's expensive, repackaged Acetone. :D

Acetone has a strong, objectionable odor, but it is not as toxic as some of the other chemicals we deal with. Methanol (the main ingredient of glow fuel) is worse. So, don't be too concerned about using acetone. Wear gloves because it does an amazing job of removing oils from skin very quickly. And use it somewhere with good ventillation. And when you are done, put the rag / swab /Q-tip outside where it won't stink up your living space.

I have found that acetone will disolve the color from some covereings, so avoid getting it on seams if you can.
