Start with the Apprentice

I have to brag about this electric trainer form Horizon. I have flown and trimmed one for someone but he did the assembly. Yesterday I worked with 18 - 6th and 7th graders who are in a program called Starbase 2.0. In 90 minutes these kids had 11 of these trainers ready to fly.
When I started almost 30 years ago, well we all know where this going, we had to build and cover everything. This is a nice little unit. It has a 60" span and even though it's all foam is decent. It even is a good flyer. For a seasoned flyer like me the easy level is a pain and you wont like it. On level two which has some assist it flys really nice. On level 3 there is no assist and it is a joy. On any level it has a "oh shoot" switch which is the trainer switch. I went wide open with it and put it in a spin coming straight down. Then just pulled the trainer switch and it immediately went straight and level. If you are teaching and the student is new they would be hard pressed to crash this thing on the easy mode. It only banks about 30 degrees and if you push the elev all the way forward it goes into a 30 degree dive and stays there. It will not dive climb or roll past that set point.
If you are the new student you will still need a little help to trim it out and get coached on landing. But this is the best tool that you can actually fly I have ever seen.

I too have an Apprentice and could not agree more.I had never flown before until this past May and had those first time jitters. This plane kind of takes those away and gives you the confidence that one needs.I now fly with out any help from 1 and 2,suffered a couple crashes but learned from those mistakes. This is an awesome first time plane....
