Sealing tape

The instructions for the Gipsy Moth I'm building says to use sealing tape on the lower wing to the fuselage joint. Is this a product that will make a fillet at that joint? I looked it up but just find flat tape. Any recommendations as to how to proceed?

It is to keep fuel from seeping into the fuselage when the engine is running. It is foam tape with glue on one side. Dubro is one source.

Thanks Bruce! That means I don't have to sand the fuselage so accurately to fit the wing.
I have dear friends in Sandy Springs! He sells Fords and she, real estate.

Hi!
Sealing tape is no good!
Make a real good sealing by using 24 hour epoxy and Micro balloons.
You just mix a slurry of microballoons and 24 hour epoxy and put it on the fuselage.
Then you put some thin tape on the wing (where it meets the fuselage) and wax the tape (Mequiers carnoba wax for example) and then put the wing onto the fuselage ...wait 24 hours and remove the fuselage/wing and voila! A perfect fit!

Fantastic idea! Thanks for sharing!

I have used silica from a tube, and also foam tape. It all works fine for about the first three flights, and then it starts peeling off. I'll have to try Jaka's idea. Jim

I do all of my planes like Jaka described, although I find that 20 minute epoxy works just fine. It does require that you pull the covering away if it's an ARF, but once it's done you have a maintenance free seal.
