Saito FA62A Air Bleed adj.
 

It seems the older I get the more mistakes I make! I purchased the Saito FA62A and the Saito mount for it. Attached the mount and engine to the firewall in order to find the position for the throttle cable. I had to rotate the throttle lever 180 over and thought (here comes the mistake) that the screw in the center of the lever was what released the lever and turned it out a few turns when I realized what it was. So, what I need to know is how was this air bleed screw set from the factory? Or can I just try to start the engine which I haven't started yet and go from there?
I wonder what misadventure tomorrow will bring? LOL

When set by the factory, the screw is just below the top of the plastic housing. This will be on the rich side, but that is what you want for the initial break in period. Just screw it back in until its a turn or so below the housing and you should be OK.

Not trying to be picky, but it's worth knowing that the screw you found is not an air bleed, it is a low speed needle. The low speed needle adjusts like the main needle; screwing it in leans it out, screwing it out richens it. An air bleed works the opposite way, because screwing it out will let more air in, which leans it out.

Your Saito does not have an air bleed, it has a two needle carb. But some engines do have air bleed carbs so it's good to know the difference.

What both gentlemen said is right on and another good thing to know is that after you get the engine started, very small adjustments on that low speed needle are recommended. One eighth of a turn is a bunch. If this needle is set just below the plastic and the engine starts, it will be rich. A very small adjustment on the low speed needle is required and then let the engine run a few seconds to see where the engine is going to settle in. The effects of any adjustment on the low speed needle are not immediate. Let the engine run a few seconds after adjustment to see where it ends up. You might actually want to run the engine up to full throttle for a few seconds after adjusting the low speed needle to clear out any over rich mixture and then let it settle back to idle.
