help identifying airplane

Hi folks,

I'm relatively new into the hobby and acquired a plane today that I'm not sure what it is. I could use some help identifying it if anyone can... A member of our club died a few months past and his collection was donated to the club. We did a drawing and members received planes on a lottery style basis, I ended up with this one. No one in the club seemed to know what it was. it has an Enya 54 FS that i was able to get running with very little persuasion. It also has strange wing tips and no tail-wheel just an L shaped metal skid ( see attached photos)

Thanks in advance for the help!

The engine is a Enya 53 not a 54,and the plane looks to be either a modified 4star 40 or a scratch built Hot's.Both planes fly extremely well and the Enya is a perfect match with any good 11/5 to 12/6 prop.

Hope this info helps out.

I am doubtful it's a modified anything this flier had mostly arf's a couple of easy sports, world models super sport, tequilla sunrise showtime 50 and the like.... I didn't see any images of a hots that had a rounded turtle deck like this one?

After looking at that brown slime on the wing I know why I went to gas:rolleyes:

I cross posted this at the RCG and a member there was able to identify this as a Balsa USA stingray 40. So it was a kit built which I found a bit of a surprise.
