Thinning CA

I have some medium CA that has thickened almost beyond using. Can I thin it with thin CA, or something else that will not compromise its holding power?

It is my belief and seems to have been evident over the years that the thickening process of CA starts slowly from the point it leaves the lab and while you can accelerate the process with addititives you cannot really reverse the process. I do believe you can slow the process by storing in the fridge.

Personally, I don't think it's worth the risk of having a plane come apart in mid-air. I've thrown away lots of CA.

Hi!
You can thin it with nitromethan or aceton but...it will not be as good as when new.

That's a lot of trouble to go to just to save $5 on a new bottle of CA. Some things just aren't worth fixing.

The real solution is to 'build more'

Lol, there you go John.
I need to tell me wife to get me that Compensator kit so my bottle of glue doesn't get wasted by drying up. She doesn't like to waste things after all...

I thin medium CA all the time by adding thin CA to it and giving it a good shake. But I mostly just use that for gluing things around the house. I'd probably agree that I wouldn't use this on a flying model. :)
