RUDDER - CABLES or ?????????
 

Alternative to cables on the rudder on a 12 lb. 30cc gp escapade any suggestions. This plane is a 80'' sport plane.
I would like 2 use ny-rod or something like ny-rod. Is there a product that doesn't grow and shrink with temp. Varations???

Pull pull cables are the way to go.

What don't you like about them? We use them on planes a lot bigger and more powerful than an 30cc Escapade. Is it the hardware giving you problems or you're just not comfortable with the idea?

Get a good crimp and cover with shrink ...I often use cable from the sporting goods store (fishing section) it's plastic coated and very easy to work with, very strong.

Yep, thats what i use as a replacement if needed, its coated leader line.

ONYTAY HERE, I DON'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH 'EM, JUST THOUGHT MIGHT BE SOMETHING BETTER.. THE COUPLING WITH THE HOLE IN IT THAT
COMES WITH THE ESCAPADE HARDWARE THAT GOES IN THE PLANE ON THE SERVO HORN COULD WEAR-OUT IF THE PLANE LASTED
LONG ENOUGH.....FISHING(STEEL,ss,LEADER ) SOUNDS LIKE GOOD STUFFFFF...I SOLDER & CRIMP THE THINGS AND HAVEN'T HAD ANY
TROUBLE BUT HAD TO TAKE SOME LOOSE AND THE ONLY WAY TO GET EM OUT WAS TO CUT.( IN A HURRY).

NOTHER QUESTION ?????????? DO SERVO ARM SCREWS NEED THREAD LOCKER IF THEY ARE METAL GEAR SERVOS. I HAD 1 COME
OUT, FOUND IT IN THE WRECKAGE , LOST RUDDER IN A BAD CROSS WIND-CAUGHT WING TIP ON TARMACK, CARTWHEELED ESCAPADE,
HAD 2 ESCAPADES AFTER THE CRASH LANDING, BROKE IN TWO(2) PIECES........MADE A FUSE. JIG & FIXED THE SUCKER....ONLY NEED 2
FINISH THE CONTROL CABLES AND UP AGAIN........

Metal gear servos with a metal screw, you can use a small drop of thread locker OR a star style washer.

Every screw in a plane that goes into metal needs threadlocker.

Ive been flying my Escapade for almost a year now without any problems from the pull-pull system on the rudder, It will takeabout a Zillion years before it gives up because of use.
