First Warbird?

Looking to get my first warbird. I've progressed from SportCub to the T28 and a Turbo Timber 1.5, and no longer use SAFE on any of them. My all time favorite plane is the P47, however I'm open to suggestions on what is a bit easier to handle. I would like to stay in the 1.2m to 1.7m range. ARF, PNP, or BNF are all on the table. Opinions appreciated.
Thanks
Pete

Good call Pete!
I've had the 60 size (20cc) and larger (50cc) TF P47s, and both fly like a dream! I find them forgiving on approach at slow speed. They are very capable and gentle models.
If the P47 your favorite, then go for it!

You may want to look at the World models P-51 or Spitfire. I have flown them both and they have great manners. Not much more work then flying any low wing sport model.

Someone, I think it's Great Planes, makes a P-51 ARF that comes with training addons to the wings so it is more docile with them but more sporty without them. It's a good way to start with warbirds.

P47 is one of the easiest to fly warbirds. The long tail is a plus.

That would be Horizon Hobby's "Mustang PTS" . It comes with removable plastic wing extenders that effectively give more wing area for training, to be removed as the new pilot's skills advance, hence the "Progressive Trainer System"(PTS) designation. I've got one that I've had for years, one of the most fun ARFs I own (flying without the wing extenders), and, , , sadly, discontinued by Horizon some years ago.....

+1 on the P-47! I have owned/flown several, including Meister, TF Giant, FMS, the BEST warbird to start with no question...
