Prop Pitch measuring method

I have been given 50 props all the same size - 12 X ? . Does anyone have a good method of measuring the pitch?

Thanx,

Ryan

Compare hub thickness with a commercially made 12 inch prop. If the hubs are the same thickness and its a wood prop... 99% chance its the same pitch.

There is a way to use trigonometry and by measring the angle of the blade at a given distance fromt he hub... you can figure the pitch. I forget the formula... but its nort hard to figure out. Use the circumference for the circle at the place you measured the angle as the base of a 90 deg triangle.

It's not a perfect method, but why not buy a 12/5-12/6-12/7 and 12/8 run each one up on your engine. Record the tach readings and compare. If you do all of them on the same day it should be close. later daveo
