Poll: Are you using exponential or dual rates?

I'm currently using dual rates as my radio, a JR XF631, doesn't support expo, but from everything that I've read, it makes more sense to have expo, or a combination... What are you using?

Thanks!

Both

Expo to smooth out and slow down around center.

Dual rates to bring out my wild side

EXACTLY AS THE "EDGE" SAYS!

Work your way up on expo though, start low (LIKE 10%) until you get used to it.

The more throw you have, the more you will need expo. It helps to smooth out the control around neutral.

Boy, ain't that the truth!

Just flew my new US40 with 60% expo on all...lost the landing gear as I was used to a little stick movement for up! wrong!

Start small and work up!

I may have missed it or it was not here but Expo and Dual Rates are as different as Rudder and Throttle. With Dual Rates, your stick movements are the same whether you are on rate one or two.

On my newer more sensitive planes I fly High rates with alot of expo. As i get used to the plane I trim down the expo a little at a time. It takes the "Woops" out of those first few flights.

i have all my planes on max throws and i use expo if i think i need it, some i do...
dual rates cause more problems than solve, i know people that learnt on ****** rates, flicked to high and cant fly, they have fun flys that go like cubs.
my controls have porpitional control, my thumb can move small amounts, thats enough dual rate for me. I dont HAVE to wack the stick all the way over.
PS, that old thing about using low rates for test flights.... if its way outta trim dont you want that extra control??? and yes i do have a plane that i can get way in trouble with and almost crashed on the test flight, i gave it more expo and left the rates same.

If My Radio has Expo, I use it, then I can get gentle response, but have full control if I need it. If I'm using one of my many radios that DOESN'T have Expo, but DOES have Dual Rates, I open the back of the transmitter and adjust the rates to full regardless of switch position. I will not use D/R due to two crashes that I witnessed, both involving not being able to pull out of a loop. The first guy forgot that his D/R were on and the second turned it on accidentally. If I accidentally hit my D/R switch, I still have full control.
