You mange it if something goes wrong. It has happen to me a few times.
A couble of burst of wind will make you pick that tx up and correct
it. I set the tx on a table not the ground. Its harder then you thank
to correct a plane that is all ready trimed out for inverted circle flight
hands off. I guess i should have said its not unsafe if you know what you are doing.

I guess those flat spins with no transmitter in my hand dont count for a whole lot :) It looks impressive at first but trust me, anybody that can fly half way good can do it. Its sort of like using a gyro in a 3D or precision airplane. Your cheating and not really doing any of the work. If your flying hands off with your radio down then it doesnt show that you can fly. It only shows that you know how to trim an airplane. IMO, it requires more talent to fly the airplane upside down and use only the rudder and elevator to make a circle and line up with the runway.
I know a guy whos plane got turned off on takeoff. The airplane climbed by its lonesome did some circles, ran out of gas and landed over 1 mile away on a driveway without a scratch. Since the guy wasnt using his radio there is no talent involved. (Yes this is a true story, the guy wrote a lengthy article about it and its was in RCM a few years back.)

But if you enjoy doing this kind of flying have at it :) I will stick to torque rolls, waterfalls, blenders, etc. Thats whats great about this hobby, you can find a particular area or thing you like to do and stick with it. While some people dont see the point in trying to get an airplane to hang there like a helicopter others (like myself) dont see the point in building a lead sled warbird that is capable of well...high speed passes and victory rolls.

P.S.

If you want to learn how to do a no hands flat spin get yourself an airplane that flat spins really good, get it up really high, put it into a flat spin, turn your radio off while the controls are locked over, put the radio down, go grab a drink and come back in 20 sec. or so and fly ;)

The talent lies it getting to the cooler to get the drink and get back in time before your plane smacks the ground.

Ya da ya da ya da. Your are right your so called blenders,waterfalls,torque roll,
hemilans,cuban 8s. ect ect ect is boring to me. All these trick can be read about and
most are done by the proper setup of the plane not so much talent. I like to be
inventive. But the flat spin strick you mentioned sounds fun and i will try it. All
those text book areobatics got boring to me and thats why Iam now trying
to master a Heli and quite frankly Iam doing great at it. Way bigger challange
then airplanes.

:) I can fly a heli really good on the SIM but its against my religion to own a heli. And you are right, 3D has a lot to do with the setup you are running BUT precision aerobatics is all about skill. A rolling loop is difficult to do and you wont ace it your first time, the same thing goes for a one roll rolling circle, and a harrier rolling circle. If ever in need for a super hard challange try the IMAC Unlimited Sequence and for a super challange try to do the TOC unknowns from 2002 :( I can barely even comprehend what they are asking me to do much less do it.

What are you doing in the beginners section with all that talent? Challenge alone doesn't mean it will be fun for everyone. Juggling 8 bowling pins while riding a unicycle would be challenging, ........but fun?

See how many loops you can do in the same spot. Keep them the same size and make them round. (3 minimum... harder than it sounds, but trainers do as well as any other plane at this.)
The key here is NOT just yanking the stick... you have to pull hard, but not full, then as the plane goes inverted give DOWN and reduce throttle when the plane starts to nose down. Then as it points straight down you are back to near full up elevator and pour on the throttle as it comes level. (meanwhile... coordinate rudder and ailerons to keep from rolling out of the loops...)

Do your racetrack and figure-8 traffic pattern inverted.

Learn the Cuban-8 See how many you can do nonstop. (2 minimum)

I am by far an expert. I am not a master of my trainer. But personally (everyone is different) it don't make a hills worth a difference if I can do a "perfect" anything. I do it for fun, not competition. Like I said everyone is different.

I don't think you need to be a complete expert on a trainer before you move on. You need to be proficient, and able to maintain control and not crash it, but it is not necessary that you fly the plane perfectly or perform every maneuver it is capable of perfectly. I suppose there is a difference between "out growing" your trainer and getting "bored" of your trainer. Or, just wanting another plane!

Someday I am sure I will be good enough to peform most manuevers perfectly. I am sure anyone can after enough practice. But personally, it would bore the heck out of me to practice loops (or any manuever) until I am blue in the face until it is perfect.

It is very true that a better plane doesn't make you a better pilot, but it is a heck of a lot more fun when you have a plane that is capable of a lot more. I can't wait to maiden my four star, now I will be able to perform even more "Sloppy" maunuevers and have a blast doing it!:D

One of our guy's rubber banded his trainer wing on upside down and flew it after a debate at the "table of knowlage"at our field. Part way through the flite one of the aileron push rods broke and didn't know it till after he landed.
I'm an instructor and still fly trainers because they are so much low stress fun. Just started flying the new World Sky Raider Mach 1, $69.95 for $130.00 worth of plane.
I have a 80" P-51 with everything and it is high stress to fly and a relief when it's back on the ground.

FHHuber I believe YOUR comments were arrogant, he asked a acceptable question that most people do not know and you criticized him and put him down because you !QUOT!claim!QUOT! to be more experience, for all we know you could be a 60 year who knows every little thing about RC flying and no be able to keep a Kmart hog airborne for more than 4 sec. and those people do exist so I suggest you act a little more MATURE and not single anyone out. If I remember correctly, in a past thread which I read a while back you are state as saying it took 14 years before you flew without crashing and now your suddenly an expert. I am sorry to instigate this further buy wings has been a great contributor to this site with the knowledge he does know and he does not try to answer questions he is unfamiliar with so I suggest you do the same.

I can not find one time where he told or even criticized someone who answer one of his questions. I did read the the 6 or 7 threads prior to writing my statement so that I would know the whole convo. between you two and I personally feel Wings is justified in defending himself. FHHuber I suggest that you just simply apologize and forget about this thread, it is supposed to be regarding RC flying, please be mature and apologize. You both are good contributors, lets drop this.
