Alpha trainer prop question!!
 

Hey guys. I'm trying to find out the diameter and pitch of the 3-blader on the Alpha for a couple of reasons. One is setting up Real Flight, other is general knowledge! And have any of you just taken out the muffler restrictor and left the flywheel and 3 blade on, etc.... I'm really impressed with this plane so far. I have only a few small complaints, but nothing huge as far as performance! All input appreciated!!

hi learjetmech. if i can remember right its like a 10x7 or 10x8..I have not done the muffler thing,but i did have to lean out the low end 1 1/4 turns...and the high end lean about 1 turn..replaced the mains with an aluminum main..made landings a lot better...its a blast to take it inverted,so far about 8 seconds long...
by the way after the 2nd 3 blade broke i went to a 10x6 2 blade...have fun...spooner

It's more like a 10x3 or a 10x4. It has very little pitch to it.

Use a 10 X 4 for your setup in the simulator. It should be close. Most people I've trained with that plane tend to change this setup out to a 2 blade 10 X 6 prop, which is easier to balance and cheaper to replace, especially if they are having trouble with flairing for touchdown. The trainer in realflight just as it is is close enough for most for training at the beginning, as what you really get out of the simulator is muscle memory for which way to push the sticks. If you're doing more advanced manouvers, you can adjust this model to be pretty close to an alpha. You might want to go onto their website and see if you can download any setups that others have done, as I'm sure that someone else has thought of this, which should save you a bunch of work.
