Second plane?

Well, I have been flying for a little while on an Eagle 2 and I'm doing a Sig Somethin Extra for my second plane. Been flying on the Real Flight Simulator every night for about an hour or two. I can land on the simulator with the trainer perfect every time. I've also been flying the Extra that is in !QUOT!add-on!QUOT! number three and can land perfect every time. Every now and then I crash it because of doing something a little to close to the ground. I know there are differences in the real thing and the simulator but the fact that I can't fly the simulator from the pilots seat or following the plane. but, only from the ground can I actually land the planes.

The question I guess I have is, was the SE a good choice considering the experience and time spent on the simulator flying the Extra? I personally don't think that I made a bad choice. I know I'll just have to stay on the low rates and use the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) method of flying for a while though. Does anyone have any ideas on what could help in this matter or any thoughts are welcome also.

Only you are qualified to answer that question....

However why don't you search the many many many threads that have already been posted. I think after spending several day reading them all you'll find that the is no "perfect" solution and it wil all depend on you.

But just to make this thread nearly identical to the others here are some SUGGESTED
candidates for a 2nd plane

MidStar
WM Super Sports
Sig 4* 40-60
Tiger II

Or any plane with a shoulder or low wing advertised as a intermediate type plane...

We have a club member that flies a Sig SE, and its a little screamer!! I opted for the MidStar myself! Gonna do the 4*60 for #3 I think!!

RE: Second plane?

My second plane is a Phoenix Model Dolphin. It's a low wing trainer. It's a solid plane to fly.....lands by it self. I've honed my 3D and aerobatic skills using this plane. Won't give it up or sell it for anything. It's a keeper. My third is a Kyosho Pitts S2C.....boy, what a bronco......amazing flier. My 4th is a CG Sukhoi SU 26 with a Webra Speed 120.....mahn, what a sweet plane to fly. I'm looking into buying a Profile plane for the winter....... Don't be afraid to try any plane....I only got my wings this year May. I did it in 3 weeks. I never looked back since......just kept on growing.
All the best on your second plane. [8D]

I usually recommend the Great Plnes Super Sportster, so you see, what Crashem said is true. There are nearly as many opinions as people on RCU.

I think, if you keep the rates and control throws low, and treat that SE gently for awile, you'll be alright. I WOULD recommend getting someone else to take it up first time and trim it out though.

Good luck,
Dennis-

The low rates on the SE is still pretty quick. The SE will fly fine
with 3/8 in on alerions 1/2 in on rudder and eleavator.
She is pretty soft set up this way for your first few flights.
