Need help with receiver hookup
 

I have a Futaba radio with a Hitech RCD 3800 receiver. The Futaba manual says to hook up the ailerons in channel 1, elevator 2, throttle 3, rudder 4. Here's the problem: I can't figure out the proper slots to put the switch and battery leads in so the switch will turn the battery off. I've interchanged them in the remaing 5, 6, and B/7 slots. Nothing seems to work. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for the help, I'm at my wits end.

B/7 = Battery/channel 7

Plug the red plug from the switch into it.

If you don't have a red plug comming from the switch, you want to plug the single connector into the receiver. (One side of the switch has two wires, the battery plugs into one, the other is for charging through the switch harness; the other side of the switch is the one tha plugs into channel 7.)

You did buy a Hitec receiver that's compatible with Futaba right?

Just tried it and works fine. Thanks so much, that was driving me crazy. Yea, it's compatible. The instructions that come with a HiTec receiver s*ck...for newbies anyway. Thanks again!!!

the reciever is an open circut. you can plug the battery in anywhere. the same reason that you can plug a battery into a y harness with a servo. as long as there is power going to the reciever, the hot and common are active. that is why when you turn everything on and you try to turn a servo it won't budge. the motor is correcting for it. the signal wire is jsut a pulse width. you can but the batt lead anywhere.

For what its worth - ensure that the PROPER servo goes into the PROPER receiver jack. There is a convention in Radio Control that the left (transmitter) stick controls the throttle (up/down)movement and rudder (left/right) movement. The right (transmitter) stick controls elevator (up/down) movement and ailerons (left/right) movement. Following the convention makes it a lot easier for any instructor you might have - especially on their first flight (thank god for pre-flights), eh?
