RE: Kadet Lt-40
I am on the "build a kit" band wagon as far as this thread goes.
I can say that on one of my landings I rolled a bit to far and hit a tree with my wing. It boogered it up pretty bad. I have absolutely no building experience. I just cut the covering away. Cut some balsa to fit the damage sections. Glued the heck out of it. Recovered it. It flies great and you can barely tell. Just my 2 cents. Wings, |
RE: Kadet Lt-40
This is purely a personal decision. If you dont like building stuff then doesnt matter how much you build its not going to make you a better pilot. A buddy of mine competes in pattern flying and the only plane he put together was a kadet senior. He has no desired in the building process but he LOVES to fly. Then there are others that can build with an incredible amount of precision and detail but that get too nervous in the air and prefer to fly with someone all the time. Do what you feel would make you happy in the long run. [sm=sunsmiley.gif]

RE: Kadet Lt-40
as an arf only flier (hate to build) i say buy both. build the kit on rainy days, fly the arf while you can.hated to see my crashed and given away u-can-do 46 back at the field the next weekend in pristine condition thanks to a 10+ year builder\flier\crasher\rebuilder in my club. at least he let me fly it.

RE: Kadet Lt-40
as stated above - thats what your most comfortable with...i didnt do the lt-40
started off with the Hobbico SuperStar40 (RTF)- 24hours later ( charging batteries hehe ) club member was assisting me in flying - didnt need to adjust anything...but as for gluing - best to glue the 2 wing-halves together as well as the screw on connecters in my opinion - second plane built from scratch while flying first |
