Covering

Can you cover a plane with a regular iron

RE: Covering

It can be done but you'll get much better results with the proper equipment.

RE: Covering

You can get very good results if you're careful. It's just a bit clumsier to use. Sort of like lighting a cigarette with a camp fire.

Yeah, you can but.... As has been mentioned, they're big and ungainly and difficult to get into tight spots. And if it's your Mom's (or your wife's) iron, you'll most likely ruin it and tick someone off!

You can buy these things used at RC auctions or swap shops for around $5. I should have grabbed the 2 I saw being given away at the auction yesterday, but I already have two regular irons and two trim irons.

(Note, this doesn't really help Super Star, but i have to say it)....

MinnFlyer, you need to come over here and clean my laptop cause that lighting a cig. with a campfire line made me laugh so hard.. JUST after taking a bite of my waffle..... you can figure out the rest :D.

What about a travelling iron? This are light and small but can still put out a fair amount of heat.
There are some guys at my club that swear by using these.

RE: Covering

I can recall using a travel iron when I was kid.
The advantage of being a kid, of course, is that you don't stop to question if something will work on not. You just do it.
I can't remember if I got good results or not?!?!

edit: didn't learn to write properly when I was kid
