Good advise

Someone gave me this advise when I was starting: pack a plastic (grocery) bag loosely inside the fuselage, in the radio compartment, to keep your wires from getting in the way of your servos. It works.

"...and, you can always use the bag it to pick up the pieces when you crash" (hehe)

So what stops the plastic bag from getting in the way of the servos?[sm=confused.gif]

I'm confused too. What exactly does the bag do? I hate good tips that I don't understand. :)

Once the servos are installed, I jsut tie wrap the leads out of the way / to an appropriate part of teh fuse.. The leads should be under the servos / servo tray anyway...

I tend to use foam that keeps things where I want it so it doesn't come loose and get tied up in the controls.

I tend to not care much about my wires :D

I hate wires moving around so I just cut all the ones from the servos ,the battery and even the antenna....Now nothing gets in the way of the servos.

I am talking about the loose wires from the aileron servos on my trainer with removable wings. They are kinda long and "float" around the radio/servo compartment.

The plastic bag does work in helping you carry the pieces back after a crash

Hope they don't shut down like windows keeps doing.

Yea.

That's Y u use Linux!!

Please don't call me a geek, but I prefer Linux over Windoze, Konqueror over Internet Exploder, and everything GNU over everything Micro$$$ofty and not working.

Bill gates will really use his "Die U Stupid Computer" gun if he sees this post!!!

PS : If Bill Gates does invent wireless servos, Micro$$$oft is probably gonna include a "You Are gauranteed to crash in 10 seconds" certificate. There'll be so much interference.

Also : I'll wait till Linus Torvalds or Richard Stallman create a GNU Open Source Wireless Servo with no interference!!!!!

OK, OK, that was bad advise. Just keep a plastic bag in your back pocket, and try not to crash.

If Bill Gates invents wireless servos you will have to continually apply patches and upgrades at additional cost because they will release them before they are truly ready. Oh... and when you need support, you will need to pay $29.95 per incident for it.

On a serious note ... in re to wireless servos.

I am a linux fan myself, but not even linux can wirelessly transmit current to a wireless servo, so every servo will have to have it's own battery pack, etc.

I have actually seriously considered wireless comms for remote actuators in a non RC related field, and found that the need to be plugged in to an energy source made it pointless. If you need a wire for energy, you may as well have a wire for control.
