Looking for a good place to purchase Irvine .46 engine, Web would be great. Is this engin better than OS .46 FX?

Try http://www.hobbybarn.com/engines.htm I wrote him an email making sure Irvine .53's were in stock. Got a reply in about an hour, and ordered one. Shipping is $7.50 http://www2.mailordercentral.com/quantummodels has them also, but their prices are higher than HobbyBarn. I don't know about the .46, but the .53 is a .40 size and is supposed to blow away most .58 engines. - Joe

Sig distributes them and sells them on their site if all else fails.

My Tiger II's instruction manual depicted an Irvine .46 being installed into the model. It looks very different than OS FX or Magnum, but looks cooler.

I'm worried about the Cooling Fin Design, though, because they are very thick. There are less ridges.

(It's not Remote Needle Valve.)

I have had two of them. I didnt really care for them as they both seemed hard to get started and tuned up right. Once that did get tuned up right they ran fine. I would opt for a TT pro .46 instead. They are super easy to tune, reliable, powerful, and offer good transition from idle to WAO.

WAO = Wide Ass Open :)

If you check the second box on the Sig website the engine sells for $118 through their dealer network.

Yup, a lot of confusion over the SIG site; especially with the Irvine engines for some reason. I can't think why SIG advertises such high direct prices....

Dougs Hobby is another source, he has good prices. Then there's also Just Engines if you want to get one direct from the UK. They have good prices too, but to check out the pricing you have to deduct the VAT and then convert the currency. Their turn around time appears to be quicker than many US companies but the exchange rate might not be in their favour right now...

Because Sig does not want to compete with their dealers. So order through the dealer network and you get the discounted price.

Hello I'm a new member and just saw your discussion about engines. I have a engine called a
UEDA it's made in Japan and pretty old I'm thinking the early 80's to mid 70"s. Have any of you guys ever heard that kind of eng. All the local hobby stores have no idea or have never heard of it. I was in the hobby about 15 yrs ago and alot has changed, now i'm getting back in and having a blast! Chris

Try Quantum models. They list Irvines and I believe they have free shipping on orders over 100$. Best of luck.

I think dealers cost is somewhere around the 80-90 dollar mark. I get a lot of my stuff at dealers cost from certain dealers and I think thats around what I paid for mine.

From my recent .46 engine research/shopping/asking-those-who-have-both experience, they appear to be equivalent in performance and reliability. The TT 46 Pro was about $30 less than the OS 46 FX when I shopped around at LHS's couple of weeks ago. Thus, I opted for the TT. However, you wouldn't go wrong with either.
