Thunder Tiger 60 ARF
 

Looking for a 60 size trainer.
Is this a good trainer as far as ease to build and quality? Anyone know what the best 60 size can be found out there? Thanks!

Haven't seen it myself. Have you asked any of the local club members? It would be a good place to check as well. Tower has several trainers in the size range youasking about. Have you looked at them? Yes some of them are ARF's. [&:]

I just finished putting together a SuperStar 60 ARF Trainer, and I'm very impressed with it. It's very easy to put together and good quality too (nice and strong and looks real good). I got it from Tower Hobbies for $106. So I think Hobbico's SuperStar 60 is one of the best 60 size trainer around.

The best 60 size trainer is the Sig LT-40. It's a 60 size plane that flies well on a 40. I have seen and flown many TT-60's for students. Many have been good and a few have been bad. We lost one from the fuselage being drilled out several times (at the factory) for the wing dowels. It wasn't obvious until the fuselage failed. Another one had almost no glue in the fuselage formers. It had to be taken apart and glued. It seems the quality is inconsistent at best. I used one of the 40 size as a club trainer for over 2 years. After over 400 flights the covering was destroyed (simply worn out). It has now been recovered by a club member and will fly again soon.

I haven't seen the TT trainers, but I do have a TT Tiger Sport that flys great, but isn't built very well at all. If the Trainer is the same (they look identical in the pictures, except the Tiger Sport is low wing) it has a plastic turtle deck, which is parting from the fuse, I have only had it less than one season... I have put it up for now and will fix many of the problems that it has this winter. I like the Hobbico trainers (Superstar and Avistar) I have put together and flown both of these and from my experience I can say that they were well built and have great flying characteristics, the only problem being the cheap stick-on covering. After my experience with the Tiger Sport ARF, even though its a great flyer, I can say that I will not buy another one because of the structural problems.

yes i reccommend the tt 60.. with a tt .60 motor.. very nice flying plane will do whatever you ask it too later on. good investment..
if you get one.. get some triangle stock and reinforce that firewall.. it is a tad on the weak side! other than that it is a very nice airplane
