servo tape?
 

i have a sig wonder and it says to tape the throttle servo to the fuselage. What tape (brand) should i use?

The tape is a two sided tape,at the hobby shop it's called servo tape.It is rubbery and is stickey on both sides.

can i get something at an office supply store? do you know any brand names?

Morning Joe, don't know of any brand names,shouldn't matter which brand. Might find some at a auto supply,office supply,or discount store,I have used silicone on one side of the servo to glue it in place if I didn't have any tape .I have also used velcro.;)

Yes, you can get it at office supply stores and even walmart. 3M makes it. It's double sided foam tape. Make sure that you wipe down the side of the servo with a little alcohol first so the tape sticks well.

Also, you have to have a non-porous surface in the airplane for the tape to stick to. The easiest way to do that is to put some epoxy on a small piece of plywood and then put it glue side down on a piece of wax paper. Clamp it down. When it cures, peel off the wax paper and you have a nice, smooth surface to attach the tape to. Epoxy the plywood in place in the aircraft where ever it goes with the smooth side (the side you just made) out.

Auto supply stores have a trim attachment tape. You can also use adhesive mounting squares sold in hardware stores. Be sure to apply two coats of Ambroid cement first to the balsa to give a smooth, sealed surface for the tape to adhere to.

Another method is to wrap the servo in a piece of mylar package sealing tape and then stick it in place with GOOP cement. The tape will make it easier to remove later. The advantage of this method is that the servo will be held securely with no movement under operating load. The thickness of the foam mounting tapes will allow for some rocking of the servo which reduces your control accuracy a bit.
