how to cover a repaired wing
 

im just finnishing up my wing repair and im wondering if there is a good site,book,video, that would inform me how to re-cover my wing. ive never done any covering so i dont have a clue. i know ill need an iron or a heat gun but as far as the process, im clueless.

Get an iron, you won't need a heat gun (maybe later when covering a whole airplane) and some covering.
You might as well start with either Ultracote or Monokote, both top quality products.
It will have instructions. Follow them, it's not hard :D
Don't worry about minor imperfections, covering's an art that takes a bit of practice to perfect.

Go & buy a roll of monokote, when you open it it has an instruction sheet in the roll, The first plane I covered I used my mothers clothes iron, just have to play with the setting until you get it right. Believe it or not it was one of the better covering jobs I have done, so acctually you don't have to buy a covering iron if you have one of these handy, but the covering iron will be eaisier to handle.

Tower Hobbies has a nice little video on the tools you need for the covering, and basic covering techniques.
think its like $12-15.
It helped me with covering my first plane.
Little tricky at first but as stated above it takes a little practice.

I though I was the only one that used a clothes iron... After my wife seen the melted covering I bought a real covering iron :D

Like RCISMYLIFE said, when you buy a roll of covering, it has instructions.

Try to find out what type of covering you have and use the same brand if you're concerned about color match.

Hi STEENER! You gotta be sure to remove all traces of oil. MEK solvent works the best. You can get it at the hardware store. Good Luck!

You need the iron and the heat gun. You can just iron the covering on but it will come out much cleaner if you use the iron to seal the sides and use the heat gun for the rest.
