Gas or Electric

When looking to purchase a plane for my father who has never built or flown a plane do you recommend Electric or Gas powered plane. I am looking for a trainer kit so he can build over the winter.

RE: Gas or Electric

gas is more expensive, larger, louder, more powerwul and require a larger space to fly in becasue they usually fly n the range of 40-70 mph.
electrics are cheaper, smaller, lighter, much much slower, and not as robust.i personally prefer gas because you can the four strokes tick like larleys, pull huge planes vertically unlimited, sound great, and more traditional. not to mention you con't have to wait to charge.
electrics are nice though. they are usualy really ight wood trussle or foam, but the most you can do to one of those when you crash is break a $5 foam piece. you have to be a lot more serious about the hobby to get into gas
