RE: good second plane
You may want to add the Bruce Tharpe Venture 60 to your list. Bruce was the engineer at Sig who designed the Four Star 40 and 120. He started his own company and the Venture 60 is his "updated" version of something similar to the Four Star (with all the improvements he has come up with over the years). Take a look at www.btemodels.com for more info. He has a comparison on the site indicating where improvements have been made over his Four Star design.
I am mid-way through building a Venture 60 right now. The kit is excelent and if it is actually an improvement over the Four Star which many consider to be the best second plane around then it should be an excelent choice as well as the ones you have listed. |
RE: good second plane
Goldberg tiger 2, tiger 60, four star 40, GP easy sport, H9 aresti. The tiger 2 is one of the smoothest flying second planes you can get, it'll take off smooth, land slow and do anything in between.

RE: good second plane
Thanks FlyerBry. I was trying to figure out what plane to get next. As soon as I saw the BTE plane I was sold. Looks great :D:D. Looks like I'll be busy this winter.

HI PT POWER! Go to MORRIS HOBBIES site and look over their stuff. A 4 pound plane with 600 sq inches of wing area will fly circles around a 5 pound plane with 500 sq in all day, and be easier to land.

RE: good second plane
How come the Tower Kaos isn't on that list? Good airplane. Also, look at the H9 Ultrastick. Had the pleasure of test-flying a 40 model for a guy a couple weeks ago. Really nice flying airplane. Perfect for a second.

Read this artical. ORIGINAL: pt-power what would you think is a good second plane? |
RE: good second plane
I think the ultra stick would be a nice one. It flies nice but can do more than you are ready for!

RE: good second plane
One would have to ask "what do you want out of a second plane?" If a person is getting bored with a trainer type model and wants to have more aerobatic capabilities than a good semi-symetrical low wing with a constant cord and low wing loading will suffice. It is possible to take a trainer and
"bash" with modifications and make it just as maneuverable as the above mentioned. If a person wants a challenge of building I suggest building off of plans. My first low wing was kitted and built with plans from RCM. I am guessing that the Question of "Good second plane" means to step up into a low wing. Although in my opinion any second plane which interests the individual is a good step toward the experience of RC flight. And as you progress you will realize the lazy flight of the trainer can be just as fun as that "Hot" plane. |

My second plane was a tiger 60. This is a great airpalne.
If you would like some ideas for mods let me know! Wat ever you buy don't spend alot of time or money on it because you will completely destrol it due to your newly found but not perfected abilities. |
RE: good second plane
thats a nice plane but im hopeing to move my geer from my traner in to my next plane
|
RE: good second plane
My vote would be for the Venture 60,but the vote counter must be from Fla.because I couldn't get it to work.[:'(]

thanks guys

RE: <span class=
There should be some sticks on the poll. Fugly Stick, Ultra Stick, etc.. Just cheapo planes you can fly like a bat out of hell with, but are still fairly sturdy. Then again, were there any Spads on that list? - Joe

RE: <span class=
Midwest Aerobat.. Great plane that's can do the aerobatics, but is still pretty forgiving.
