Fiberglassing a Beaver?
I've got a GWS Beaver. Its a 3 channel foam park flyer with a 300 motor. It's a blast to fly, but like I mentioned in a previous post, it becomes very structurally unstable at full speed due to severe wing flutter. I've also broken the vertical stab on a noseover during a grass landing, and the foam doesn't hold the landing gear very well. I've read other posts about fiberglassing foam models with lightweight fiberglass cloth and a water-based polyurethene. The beaver has LOTS of vertical climb, and acts like it could stand some more weight. I think this would stiffen the whole thing, provide more strength, and allow for faster flying.
Any thoughts? Has anyone tried to fiberglass foam park-flyer wings? Thanks, |

Yup. I fiberglassed my Gws Tigermoth and Gws Zero, the wing root is quite weak.
