Hangar 9 Alpha Trainer Fuel Question

The manual for my Alpha says to use 10% to 15% fuel. What does everyone recommend for this aircraft.

I use 15% in mine. Runs fine. 10% would be ok too. Easier to tune!

RE: Hangar 9 Alpha Trainer Fuel Question

10% should be just fine for starting out with your Alpha trainer.

Assuming you have a .40 size Alpha, if you are running a .40 engine, you may later want to move up to a higher % for additional power. However, if you have a .46 engine, IMO you'll never need more than 10%.

Cheers!

RE: Hangar 9 Alpha Trainer Fuel Question

10% or 15% is fine, I doubt you'd notice a difference in the trainer, since you aren't going to be trying to get every last bit of power out of it anyway. You could even run 5% if you wanted, though the extra nitro helps in starting and at idle.

RE: Hangar 9 Alpha Trainer Fuel Question

I use 10% nitro as well. Just be sure it has at least 18% oil. And I suggest that some of the oil be castor. Castor is cheap insurance against lean run damage. I run 20% oil and between 3 and 5% castor.
