I read on the spad site that sometimes the carborator on the GMS will leak then it dosen't shut down would i be better off to get a Magnum or Towwer engine?

RE: Engine

From what I've seen of the GMS engines, I haven't been overly impressed. I'd go with the Magnum. (The TOwers are too whiney). Magnum or Thunder Tiger.

GMS are a great engine and for the $$ have heaps of power BUT they need sealing around the carby base and back plate which in this day and age shouldn't be required.

$ for $ the TT46 pro is probably the best engine on the market

RE: Engine

I have a few friends with GMS engines and each time they want to stop it, they have to literall throw the towel in. However, the engine seems to be powerful and reliable once it's adjusted correctly.

I have a TS .61 which is crap and a ASP/Magnum .61 fourstroke which has been very nice... I would say that GMS and ASP/Magnum are the only engines you should buy from China.

GMS 1.47 hp Tower 1.75 hp Magnum (7.5cc) Tower sound pretty good. What is wrong with the tower that everybody says not to use it for?

Keep in mind that HP numbers are pretty much bogus, and not a good way to compare engines.

the tower is fine it is the most powerfull .46 on the market but it has its problems.

RE: Engine

What kind of problems?

The Tower is the most powerful 46 on the market?..........It may be advertised as having the most power but it doesnt.

The HP ratings on these engines is basically good for nothing ...you definately cant use the figures to compare 2 engines.

For the most powerful engines mvvs...rossi....jett....probably more

My opinion for what its worth the OS or TT 46 have more power than a Tower boat anchor...ummm i mean engine.

Have to agree with Woodsy bang for the buck...buy the ttpro 46.

RE: Engine

The air leaks are simple to fix. Remove the carb and clean the part that sticks into the engine. Clean the hole where the carb goes. I would use a carb cleaner such as Gumout orn whatever brand you get. Go to an auto store and get some black silicone. Permatex is the usual brand available. Do not let the salesman talk you into the red stuff. It does not seal nearly as well as the black. Put a light coating on the carb base and reinstall it. Let it sit 24 hours and you are done. Do the same for the backplate. Do not forget to reinstall any gaskets and "O" rings. This should solve any air leakages.
