Ok, I know you guys see a million of these posts, so I will try to get to the point.

I have flown electrics successfully for awhile. I wanted to move on to IC. To make a long story short, I got a Hanger 9 Cub (the 80"). It came in today, so I will be starting construction tonight. I have heard and read all about the bad ground handling and takeoff problems, SO I am having a LHS owner put me on a box. By the way, he and his assistants are great. Mark from Mark's hobby shop in Little Rock, Arkansas...Thanks Mark!

Are there any pitfalls besides takeoff? Anyone else have construction tips? I think I will be going with a Magnum .61 4s. Anyone have this engine? Thanks for the help and all the great reading on here!

The best thing I can tell you is: Read the instructions!

Bring them in the bathroom, or to bed at night, or wherever you like to read, and read them thoroughly. Make sure you not only read them, but also UNDERSTAND them before adding any glue.

Pitfall: Rudder is an absolute necessity when turning. But that's not really a pitfall, it teaches you to use your left hand.

I have the ASP .61 which is identical to the Magnum on my KMP Cessna Skylane and so far it has been stellar. It has single handedly changed my mind about the quality of Chinese Engines. It's not a looker but it performs flawlessly.

I have a Magnum 61 4-stroke and it's one of my most reliable engines in my squadron. It has never quit, stuttered or left me with a heart palpatation during flight. Only had to adjust it once and never again. You will like the engine. I plan on transferring mine to a Citabria in the spring. You will also get very long flight times as this engine sips fuel.

I also have a Magnum 80 that's a nive little powerhouse but it's definitely heavier than the 61. Your 61 will fit just about any 40-46 sized airplane and has a similarly sized mounting pattern.

All good points. AS Minnflyer said, take your time and make sure before you glue.

The key is to have fun with it. Should be a great plane in the air. You will learn to use the rudder.
