Can you cut down a muffler that is stock on a tower .46? If so will it affect performance??

you can cut off some from the back end if you want to . generally this makes the noise louder and may increase the power ever so slightly.

Are you talking about the Tower tuned muffler. They cut a piece of aluminum pipe to a prescribed size. I think it would get very much louder because as I understand the theory of tuned mufflers the sound waves cancel each other out....as the bounce from one end back to the other. Changing the size takes the waves back out of sync.

I personally think the effect on performance would be minimal to non-existent.

I want to ask the obvious question though...why do you want to do this....something not fitting?

Yea muffler is a little to long and I want to fly this weekend. pitts wont be here till next week!

Cut it. The replacement parts, should you decide to cut, are only 4 bucks at tower. ;)

If you have an OS .46FX or Thunder Tiger Pro .46 muffler laying around, you can put one of those on the Tower engine....they're a little shorter.
