Du-Bro hinge installation
Hello all,
I'm installing some du-bro hinges. I've used their kwik hinge slotter tool to make the slots and now it's time to glue them in place. I've heard drilling a small hole at the center of the hinge slot helps? Should I use epoxy or CA to glue them? Any tips to keeping the glue off the hinge point? Thanks for the advice, Gord |

Du-Bro makes several kinds of hinges. If you have the kind with the steel pin CA is a no no. use slow epoxy like
30min and coat the centerline with Vasoline using a toothpick. I would glue them on the plane, let them dry, and put the control surfaces on the next day. if you dont have the ones with the steel pin, describe them a little better. later daveo |

I like the vaseline trick. I didn't know about that. They are the metal pin hinges also. Thanks for the tip!

Du-Bro hinge installation
Hello,
Another glue that works well for this is probond polyurathane. I keep some in an old CA bottle that has a very sharp applicator, and squeeze some into the slot before sliding the hinge in. This stuff expands as it sets, so it fills the holes in the hinges, and really grips them. Jim |
